“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” by John Holmes.
Past It all started for me when I was about four years old and my father first showed me a soccer ball. At this time I did not know what I was doing I would just run around kicking the ball and laughing. I would grab the soccer ball run out to the back yard and just kick the ball against the fence and just run around for hours. As I grew up my love for the game of soccer grew and grew. By the age of eight I was already playing on a travel team and traveling to different states to play in tournaments. the age of 8 till I was 19 were the years in which soccer played the biggest part in my life. during these years I would meet new friends and people that would influence my life in many ways. I met friends that I still talk to today. I can go to these friends with anything and I always know they will have my back and give me good advice. Soccer has shown me that everything in life is not about yourself and that you need to be able to help others in order to be successful. Soccer is a team sport which means you need to be able to play with others on the field and come together as one to win. Soccer has shown me that in life you need to be able to interact and help others in their time of need because there is going to be a time where you are going to need help and need someone to be there for you. Soccer helped me see that I need to open up to those around me and trust in them because if you don’t trust the players around you in soccer and try to do everything by yourself you are going to have a hard time getting anywhere. One question that people have a hard time answering is what does it mean to be educated? This is a question that i never knew a good answer to until I thought back to those days of playing soccer. Soccer has shown me that to be educated you need to be able to function as an individual but also get help from and give help to others when it is needed because everyone can not do everything on their own there is always going to be times when people need help.
Present Coming into college i didnt know what to expect. Ive had some friends go away to college but i never really had a conversation with them on what i should expect and whats going to happen there. So far my expierence has been preety good. I play for the soccer team met alot of new people and my grades have been preety good as well. These are all things that I had doubts about comming into it i didnt know if id make the team if id be able to fit in or if it was going to be a lot harder than highschool and i wasnt going to do well. Presently i am finishing up my fall semester as a sophmore. This year has been going well ive been able to live off campus in a house with a bunch of friends which gives me a lot more freedom and space to do the things that i couldnt easily get done in the dorms. Living off campus has shown me a lot about my self and those around me. One thing ive learned is that you need to have the determination to go to class and get your school work done because it is easy just to say i dont feel like walking missing class is no big deal. I have always made going to class and getting my school work done a priority even though i have missed a couple classes here and their. One thing i learned about others is that you see a new side of people once they are not living on campus they get a lot more freedom and some take advantage of that and go down a wrong path. The main thing These first two years of college has taught me is that the more friends you make and the more people you associate with can only help you in the long run. Their is always going to be a time were you are going to need someones help and knowing that you have a lot of people willing to help you will make the situation a lot easier. Their has been many situations for me in which i had no idea what was going on in class and needed to talk to someone to show me what i was doing wrong and an easier way to look at things. There also has been times were others have come to me for advice and help and ive been able to help them and make what they are doing alot easier. Lending a helping hand is something that should be normal for people, ive been trying to help others and get help from others as much as i can because i know that it will only help me succeed in the future.
